Crisis? Millionares fortune in Mexico increases 63%

German Larrea, owner of Grupo Mexico, reported an increase of 273% in his individual fortune in the Forbes list 2010

MEXICO, March 11, 2010.- The crisis seems to have reached its end, at least among Mexico’s wealthiest men, which so a 63% increase in their fortunes in only one year.

The Mexicans included in the 2010 Forbes list of the wealthiest men in the world, published by Forbes magazine, summed a total fortune of 90.3 billion dollars (bd) which represent a 63.8% growth against the 55.1 bd reported on 2009 ranking.

This year Forbes included Mexican business men like Carlos Slim, in the first place with a fortune of 53.500 bd; Ricardo Salinas Pliego (10.1 bd), German Larrea (9.7 bd), Alberto Bailleres (8.3 bd), Jeronimo Arango (4 bd), Emilio Azcarraga (1.5 md), Roberto Hernandez (1.2 bd), Alfredo Harp Helu (1 bd) and El “Chapo” (shorty) Guzman with 1 bd.

The businessmen who registered the biggest increase in his fortune with a 273% rise, was German Larrea, going from 2.6 bd on 2009 to 9.7 bd on 2010.

Ricardo Salinas Pliego, Grupo Salinas owner, showed an increase of 140% in his wealth, reaching 10.1 bd on 2010, from the 4.2 bd registered a year early in Forbes magazine.

The third place regarding fortune increase among Mexican millionaires is Carlos Slim, owner of Telmex and Telcel with a 52% increase in his fortune, whicn went from 35 bd on 2009 to 53.5 bd on 2010.

Emilio Azcarraga Jean reported a 50% increase, Alberto Bailleres 45% and Jeronimo Arango 17%. Roberto Hernandez, El “Chapo” (Shorty) Guzman y Alfredo Harp Helu reported no earnings. (El Semanario Agencia, ESA)
