Lozano considers finalized the Cananea conflict

The Labor Minister denied that the government had any intervention in the decision of the second multi-judge panel

MEXICO, March 4, 2010. - Javier Lozano Alarcon, Minister of Labor and Social Prevision qualified the conflict of the workers from the Cananea mine as a “closed case” and pointed out that the next step is to begin the procedures to indemnify the employees with 3 months and 12 days for each they worked for the mining company.

"Since there is no an administrative action to cause it, I don’t see why there should be another action of amparo, I thin this is a closed case” said Lozano.

During his appearance before the Cananea Special Committee, the Labor Minister denied that the government had any intervention in the decision of the second multi-judge panel regarding Labor, which finalized the labor contracts between Mexicana de Cananea and its employees.

The public server assured that ending the work relations was an unavoidable decision, and that what happened in Cananea is not new in the juridical system, because in 1007 and 1998 the same argument was used to liquidate Ferrocarriles Nacionales.

In the other hand, Mr. Lozano denied that his Ministry pretends to resolve labor conflicts by manipulating litigations. (El Semanario Agencia, ESA)
